Each of our custom box manufactures plants have different proficiency, strengths and capabilities. Corrugated cardboard is stocked in assorted material grades and corrugated sheet sizes in our various box plants. The box size you order and the initial run quantity of boxes is a key factor in determining which manufacturing plant we use to produce your custom box order.

The type of corrugated cardboard sheets we stock and the square footage committed to each box run determines pricing. We stock most standard linerboard grades and sizes in all of our plants. If we have to order special board grades that are not generally in stock this increases pricing especially in smaller quantities. Double sided mottled white and triple-wall corrugated cardboard are considered special order sheets, along with ASTM D4727 corrugated cardboard. The size of the box also plays a role in the cost of box, small boxes use less corrugated sheet material and square footage. Therefore, short box runs don’t use as much square footage which increases the price of each box. This isn't to say that we will not do a small quantity run or even a few single custom boxes. However, our minimum for custom boxes is $150.00 whether you purchase 1 large box or 75 smaller boxes as an example. Custom Boxes with printing are manufactured and printed as one, two, three and 4 color. This is done as a direct print transferred by a print plate onto the corrugated sheet. The other option is to print high end graphics on CS1 70# paper and laminate it to the corrugated cardboard sheets. Lithographic printing and labels provide the highest quality graphics and resolution giving the box a beautiful full color print. A standard RSC box is the most economical for direct print. The two length panels of the box are usually used as the print area for a company name and logo. Printing a custom box requires print plates and dies for each image printed. If you change the size or footprint of the image for a different size box then individual size print plates are required for each size box. Die-tooling charges are not usually required on RSC shipping boxes, only on special die cut style boxes. The detail of the logo or image printed on the custom printed boxes is only as good as the duplication of the image and detail onto the printing plates.
